Blue Phantom - Distortions (Digipack Edition) 1971

Very trendy track titles such as Distillation, Equivalence and Psychonebulous (all credited to H. Tical), as well as the lack of info on the sleeve, are more often than not a bad omen. This all-instrumental exploitation album, however, has some hidden surprises for us. The ridiculous liner-notes (mentioning life before birth, no less) notwithstanding, almost each and every track is a short heavy acid-rock symphony which make the title of the album ring true. Disturbing, subtly dissonant and even downright menacing, I wouldn't recommend to listen to this daily, but I would certainly recommend it in small doses. A good soundtrack to your worst expectations, this is an unclassifyable hybrid of orchestrated pop and trips gone awry. For the strong-souled among us.
The "Tical" monicker is thought to be a pseudonym and as the album and a 45 with two non album tracks were issued in Italy on the Spider label (distributed by Vedette), it's probable that this album was the work of an Italian artist. Tapestry of Delights

Aquila - Aquila 1970

Questa band gallese nasce dalle ceneri dei "Blonde On Blonde" dopo che il suo fondatore Ralph Denyer nel 1970 lasciò il gruppo per lavorare a un suo progetto, Aquila.
La musica mostra influenze psichedeliche dei Blonde On Blonde ma si fonde con un piacevole progressive simile ai King Crimson del primo album , con l'introduzione del sax, di grande effetto.
L'album è diviso in due parti ben distinte, la prima con quattro tracce che mostrano il lato più heavy prog della band con aperture verso il jazz psichedelico mentre la seconda è caratterizzata dalla lunga suite "Aquila" di 26 minuti divisa in tre parti, e mostra la faccia più progressiva della loro musica. Un piccolo gioiello dimenticato ingiustamente. Buon Ascolto

Gruppo sconosciuto del Wisconsin con un solo album all'attivo.
Il disco è una miscela di Heavy Rock con chitarra fuzz, organo in evidenza e la urlante potente voce di Bob Collins che raggiunge livelli altissimi in brani come "Homely Man Blues" e "Get Your Shit Together". L'album è piuttosto irregolare ma senz'altro da riscoprire. Buon Ascolto

Questa sensazionale band viane dal sud della California, vicino a Los Angeles. Heavy rock psichedelico con due incisive chitarre soliste. L'inizio è strepitoso."Waiting,Hesitating è il chiaro marchio West Coast del gruppo come anche la bellissima "Back To The Farm". Altro non aggiungo a un disco semplicemente meraviglioso. Ellison - Ellison 1971

Quartetto canadese di Quebec registrano nel 1971 il loro unico e straordinario album ricco di momenti intensi e malinconici con chiari riferimenti all'uso di droghe nei testi. E' un capolavoro Heavy Psych che inizia con l'apertura di porta (della mente) nella bella "Unchanged World" e continua senza un calo di tono per tutte le 7 tracce.
Bellissima la malinconica "Seal A Beam Bow" .Molto raccomandato! Ristampa Gear Fab
